Interim Accountable Officer

Interim Accountable Officer needed for immediate start.

We are seeking a capable and engaging leader with a close attention to detail to join us as an Interim Accountable Officer – the lead officer of the The Gingerbread Centre.

You will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Organisation; its management, its maintenance and its development.  You will act on behalf of the Board of Management, implementing policies and procedures and ensuring the Organisation fulfills all its duties.

Role Purpose

  • Lead the operational effectiveness of the Gingerbread Centre, working in conjunction with the Board of Trustees and working closely with the Gingerbread Management Team.
  • Set and outline clear objectives and goals for the operational teams.
  • Ensure all teams are equipped to focus and deliver on operational objectives and goals, and to regularly monitor.
  • Governance – ensure all constitutional and legal requirements are met.
  • Financial – ensure financial and organisational performance is optimised.

Salary: Negotiable

Hours: Part time (3 days per week).
There will occasionally be some evening and weekend meetings/events.

The Gingerbread Centre exists to provide accommodation and a whole range of support to families in Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding areas, who would otherwise be homeless.

The organisation is now at a particularly exciting time in its story and we are searching for a proactive and enthusiastic individual to join us in this newly designed role; to help shape and develop The Charity in a way that will make a long-lasting positive impact for the people who use our services.

We’re looking for a self-driven Business Development Manager who can create and deliver income raising and strategic development activities that enable us to achieve our social purpose.

You will have proven experience in designing and delivering strategies for growth, and the communication and influencing skills to turn ideas into tangible results.

Night Support Worker (Maternity Cover)

Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Night Support Worker to join our highly committed team. You will provide a warm, friendly and responsive overnight service. The main duties are:

  • Reception cover
  • Health and safety checks of the building
  • Security of the building & the monitoring of visitors
  • Offering practical support to families
  • Responding to emergencies and referring to other agencies, where necessary
  • Management of maintenance issues

NVQ Level 2 in Security or Health and Social Care is desirable, although, successful candidates can expect to have regular training via courses and workshops to further personal development, with a view to advancement within the organisation.

Salary: £10.10 per hour -
£13,691.96 per annum

Date of Maternity Cover:
The successful candidate will cover Maternity Leave from the 31st July 2022 to July 31st 2023, or to the Date of Return from Maternity Leave, whichever is sooner.

Hours of Work: Average of 26 hours a week.

9.00pm – 9.00am via a shift rota, includes weekends and bank holidays. The number of shifts per week average two or three, although cover is required for holidays and sickness.

If the answer is ‘yes’, you’re the person we are looking for.

Based mainly in our Hanley Accommodation, your main tasks will be to carry out the cleaning of the offices and residents’ communal areas, and the cleaning of empty properties ready for new tenants.

You will value diversity and be considerate of our resident’s circumstances. You will enjoy working in a small team, in a busy and varied environment. Additional hours may be required to cover annual leave, sickness and for busy periods.

Salary: £9.90 per hour

Hours of Work: 6 Hours per week

Mon – 9.00am – 11.00am
Wed – 9.00am – 11.00am
Fri – 9.00am – 11.00am

Maintenance Worker

Description:
Do you enjoy decorating and have plumbing or electrical experience?

If the answer is ‘yes’, you’re the person we are looking for.

Based across our Hanley and Longton Accommodation Units, your main tasks will be to carry out the general maintenance of the offices and residents’ communal areas, and the decorating/preparing (and moving furniture) of empty properties ready for new tenants. You will maintain the gardens and ensure the Health and Safety of the building including; fire safety checks & PAT testing of electrical items.

You will value diversity and be considerate of our resident’s circumstances. You will enjoy working in a small team, in a busy and varied environment. Additional hours may be required to cover annual leave, sickness and for busy periods.

A current full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle covered by business use insurance is essential.

Salary: £11.15 per hour -
£21,508 per annum

Hours of Work: 37 Hours per week

Evening & Weekend Support Practitioner

Description:
Looking for a new challenge and want to make a difference?

Join our team of staff at The Gingerbread Centre.  We are looking for a part-time Support Practitioner to work at our Catherine Court site.  The Practitioner role will include evenings and weekend day-shifts every fortnight, as well as bank holidays.

You will have responsibility for liaising with the Family Practitioners and assist them in their casework.  You will welcome any new admissions, who arrive during your shift.  You will carry out support sessions with families, so they can reach their best possible outcomes and achieve their aspirations.

You will also encourage independence whilst providing background support and support with routines and life-skills attainment.  You will complete Initial Assessments and engage service users with other projects.

An NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent, is desirable, although the successful candidate can expect to have regular training via courses and workshops to further personal development.

Salary: £10.10 per hour

Hours of Work:
This position is on a 2 week rolling rota. 
Week 1 - 30 hours
Week 2 - 6 hours

Please note that additional hours will be required to cover sickness and annual leave.
